A High-Energy and High-Intensity Inverse Compton Scattering Source Based on CompactLight Technology

چکیده
An inverse Compton scattering source based on the CompactLight injector and capable of producing MeV gamma-rays with a brilliance several orders magnitude larger than existing sources is proposed. The can operate at bunch repetition rate 1 kHz, trains 50 bunches spacing 5 ns, giving maximum total flux 8.62 × 1011 photons/s. For normalised emittance 0.3 mm mrad, an average 1.85 1014 photons/(s mm2 mrad2 0.1%BW) could be obtained. A kW colliding laser was considered, corresponding to pulse energy mJ. Given electron beam up 300 provided by photoinjector, photon 2 Simulations were performed using RF-Track particle tracking software. Parametric scans used derive spot sizes maximising flux. accelerator optic components also determined from final focus design, which optimised for micrometer-level size interaction point. in order 1012 photons/s output range, proposed various applications, including X-ray imaging.

High efficiency x-ray source based on inverse Compton scattering in an optical Bragg structure
Existing x-ray sources based on inverse Compton scattering rely on free-space lasers and have modest efficiency due to the inherent limitation of maintaining their peak field intensity over a few Rayleigh lengths. Moreover, their typical interaction spots are tens of micrometres in diameter and they rely on large electron accelerators. We propose a new structure that mitigates many of these lim...

Virtual Compton Scattering at High EnergyZHANG CHEN In this dissertation we develop a theoretical framework in the context of per-turbative QuantumChromoDynamics (pQCD) for studying non-forward scatteringprocesses. In particular, we investigate a non-forward unequal mass virtual Comptonscattering amplitude by performing the general operator product expansion (OPE)and the for...

We report the first results of high intensity x-ray generation using Inverse Laser Compton scattering. This experiment was carried out by a US-Japan collaboration at the Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) Accelerator Test Facility (ATF) in September 1999.The ATF is an accelerator and beam physics user facility. The 3.5 ps x-ray pulse at 6.5 keV, containing ~107 x-ray photons was generated by ...
متن کاملInverse Compton Scattering – Revisited
An important radiative process, used in several astrophysical contexts to generate high energy photons, is the inverse compton scattering. In this process, relativistic electrons transfer part of their kinetic energy to low energy photons thereby creating high energy photons. Conventional text book derivation (Rybicki & Lightman 1979) of this process uses the photon picture, kinematics of elect...

Hard photons well above 100GeV have to be generated in a future photon collider which essentially will be based on the infrastructure of the planned International Linear Collider (ILC). The energy of near-infrared laser photons will be boosted by Compton backscattering against a high-energy relativistic electron beam. For high effectiveness, a very powerful laser system is required that exceeds...
